About Me

My first degree was in Electronics Engineering, in one of the best universities in Ecuador, some years later I had the honor of teaching at the same university. I was lucky enough to be able to do postgraduate studies and I got a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering and I recently submitted my doctoral thesis in which I worked with a novel neuroimaging technology based on red and infrared light.

I am intelligent, but these achievements are mainly a product of my attitude and my values that include responsibility, accountability, dedication, and a strong sense of ethics. I love to teach, to learn, and to create and I have a curious personality. Most of the time you could find me, in front of my computer coding or working on a new project, walking or reading a book.

Experience

2018 - 21 / PhD. Candidate - Bionics Institute

  • I investigated different behavioural and objective methods for assessing mental effort, using a neuroimaging technique.

  • I proposed the research questions for my research and set up the experiments and collected the data to answer them.

  • I implemented algorithms for signal processing of time series of (fNIRS) data, including data cleaning, identification of bad readings in the data, profiling the distribution of the data and determination of the best way to model it for extracting features for statistical analysis.

  • I implemented the statistical analysis with the features extracted using R Studio.

  • I communicated my results in both written and oral formats.

2015 - 18 / Lecturer - Escuela Politecnica Nacional (University)

  • I taught Biomedical instrumentation and Electric circuits.

  • I actively participated in different research projects within the university, some of them associated with Artificial Intelligence (e.g. use of Ant Colony Optimization for control of systems).

  • I supervised students' research (Honours projects).

  • I tutored students and advised them regarding how to plan their studies

2015 - 18 / Lecturer - Universidad de las Americas (University)

  • I taught Microcontrollers programming and Digital electronics.

  • I supervised students' research (Honours projects).

  • I collaborated in the design of the academic curriculum.

  • I tutored students and advised them regarding how to plan their studies.

2013 - 14 / Research Internship (3 months)

  • I worked on a project for controlling a turtle robot with brain signals from a Neurosky device. I used python as my main language for this project (ScikitLearn and NumPy).
